All bugle beads used (#5 and #3) are from Hobby Lobby. I probably made 10 different versions of this concept before arriving at the right geometry, that would hold the rivoli in place securely, and keep the cage from moving/skewing too much at the joints. This is a stunning yet simple design, which encases a 14mm Rivoli crystal inside a cage made of #5 and #3 bugle beads, 11/0 TOHO seed beads (2 colors), and 15/0 seed beads (plus a 6/0 or 8/0 seed bead for the jump ring to go through). You will also need a bail or large jump ring to connect the pendant to a chain or cord. So I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern! Materialsįor this design you will need a 14mm rivoli crystal, nine 6mm bicone crystals, nine 4mm bicone crystals, nine superduos, and 11/0 TOHO seed beads. I like this because it allows the beauty and depth of the crystal to reflect more light from the center. Also, the bezel does not cover up too much of the rivoli crystal. (One of the photos below shows what the bezel looks like from the back, so you can see how securely it holds the crystal). The bezel part only requires 11/0 TOHO seed beads (no 15/0 seed beads, like in my Georgiana or Evangeline Earrings), and is very easy and quick to make. The part I like best about this design is the new technique I use to bezel the rivoli crystal in the center. I used Rivoli crystals of varying quality – the cheaper ones (from ) tend be thicker around the edge, but the pattern worked with both types. 2 meters of 6lb Fireline (or stringing material of your choice).Bail (or use a few larger jump rings as a bail).11/0 TOHO seed beads (or 11/0 Dynamite seed beads) in up to three colors.14mm Rivoli crystal (also known as Chaton crystal).I hope you enjoy this free beading pattern! Be brave and have fun experimenting with wild color combinations. The original inspiration for this pendant was a peacock feather, but the design lends itself to colors outside of that.
